What Is Water Baptism?
Water baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision to follow Jesus. Through baptism, we publicly identify with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.
Baptism does not save us—Jesus does. Instead, baptism is an act of obedience that demonstrates our faith and publicly communicates the decision we’ve already made to follow Christ.
When we go under the water, it represents the death and burial of our old life. When we come out of the water, it represents being raised to new life in Christ.
"We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
Romans 6:4
